The Old Persian Translation of the Holy Bible traces its origins to the early 19th century. The first portions were translated in Shiraz by Henry Martyn and Mirza Seyed Ali Khan from the original Greek and Hebrew texts. In the following years, William Glen and Mirza Mohammad Jafar Shirazi completed the translation of the Old Testament. After thorough revision by Robert Bruce and his colleagues, the final version was published in 1895, and it remains one of the most respected and authoritative Persian translations of the Bible to this day.
